In 1987, the famous Soviet scientist, corresponding member of USSR Academy of Sciences Batalov Boris organized enterprise focused on developing and designing a specialized element base (digital, analog and analog-digital LSI and VLSI) for the telecommunications industry of the USSR.
Since 1989 Institute is headed by the Honored Man of Science and Technology of Russian Federation, professor, academician of MAS and MAI, Ph.D. Nemudrov Vladimir.
The Institute was initially focused in their design to use the most advanced domestic and foreign microelectronic technologies.
Already in the early 90-ies our company, the first in Russia, managed to reach the world level of development of specialized VLSI (ASIC) – a first domestic circuit for submicron technology (CMOS – 0.8 microns) has been developed and replicated. It’s functional performance has excessed best foreign analogues (Gold Medal at the exhibition “Eureka-94?).
Subsequently Institute has consistently raised the degree of integration of ASIC, way up from 0.8 micron design rules (100 – 150 thousand equivalent gates on a chip) up to modern design standards – 0,13 – 0,18 mm (equivalent to several million gates on a chip) . The Institute, in those years, served orders for the leading domestic (MNIIRS, RNIIRS, VNIIS RNIIKP, etc.) and foreign (Motorola, SGS Thompson, VLSI Technology, TFAC, etc.) companies.
Our senior specialists have many years of research and practical experience in the development of functionally complete units and blocks for communications equipment, radar, navigation, etc. This experience has enabled to form a bank of its own original solutions that are protected by several patents in terms of algorithms, architecture and circuit design in many areas of work.
Many specialists were trained in foreign design – centers have experience of contracts with leading foreign companies: Motorola, VLSI Technology, Nortel, ST Microelectronics, LG and others.
The Institute is equipped with powerful workstations, the art licensed software and hardware tools CAD, allowing to provide a full itinerary VLSI design, followed by access to the domestic and foreign microelectronic factory.
Given the experience and high level of development of VLSI, highly qualified personnel, and active participation in international business associations developers and manufacturers of VLSI – the leadership of the Federal Agency for Industry (Rosprom RF) to venture responsibilities Interindustrial Centre VLSI-type system on a chip “( VLSI SoC). By Order № 68 Head ROSPROM RF BS Aleshin, dated 11 August 2004, the company is “the focal point of work on infrastructure development and interaction of domestic design centers VLSI SoC at all levels.”
The company is the lead on a number of government programs. In particular – to create a domestic element base for digital television broadcasting.
More than 400 types of VLSI developed more than 60 000 blocks of serial VLSI delivered requisitioning enterprises, more than 15 developments on submicron technology (0,8 – 0,35 m) has been developed and delivered, 6 VLSI SoC (0,35 – 0,13 m) – This balance is currently at the Institute.
In 1995, the development team of the Institute was awarded the RF Government Prize in Science and Technology. Many experts from the institute were awarded orders and medals of Russia, are honorary workers electronics industry, honored radio RF.
The development of microelectronic devices – another area of activity of the institute. The usage of a specialized institute in VLSI circuits, including VLSI SoC, use their own hardware and hardware – software solutions for the implementation of signal processing algorithms – give the institution a competitive series – capable products in the field of satellite navigation equipment for environmental monitoring, equipment closing speech signal , digital filtering, etc.
Navigation GPS / GLONASS receiver GALS-P, developed and launched into mass production for its own account, was highly appreciated by consumers (the minimum size, low power consumption, low cost) and delivered more than 40 companies in Russia and CIS countries, develop and supply navigation equipment consumers (NAP), including equipment for special purposes.
Currently being drafted VLSI SoC for GPS / GLONASS receiver GEOS-2, developed in collaboration with the company “CB GEOSTAR navigation. The receiver will have more dimensions (20?20 mm), less consumption (0,1 W) and cost about $ 12. In the developed VLSI SoC, FSUE Nyima “Progress”, will unite on a single chip all the digital part of the receiver (processor, memory, logic circuits, hardware support calculator, interfaces, etc.).
The extraction of even more powerful VLSI SoC with orientation on the most current (SiGe) technology to combine on a single chip as the digital processing, so the receiver RF path that will lead ultimately to practically single-chip receiver.
Under the state order, the company finalized a set of VLSI for digital television receiver (set VLSI for the TV tuner, VLSI QFDM, MPEG2). In the field of environmental monitoring set up autonomous automatic device for remote environmental monitoring, with pre-treatment information on the ground in real time and transfer it via low-orbit satellite communications system in the environmental center for further processing and decision making.
The Institute carries out extensive work in the defense order.
